Every musician ought to have a mentor, and I couldn't have a better one than Charles. Not only was he Beverly Sills' accompanist for twenty years, Founding Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and yadda yadda yadda, but he's also a very cool guy. In our first rehearsals years ago, I'd been struggling with nerves and came to the piano to find he had left me, in place of the usual singer's glass of water, a glass of beer. He helps me take it all, the good and the bad, in stride and with humor.',

Together we performed Rachmaninoff songs, one of which, the Vocalise, I would sing at her burial in Valhalla, NY. She rests, as she had wished, near the gravesite of Rachmaninoff himself. Ruth was a great supporter of young artists and a brave lady - I was encouraged and inspired by her loving dedication to music and family.',
